The new formaldehyde standard in the United States may aggravate the sharp decline in furniture exports

the latest data released by Zhongshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Guangdong Province showed that in the first half of this year, a total of 99 batches of furniture exported by the Bureau were powered by high-pressure hydraulic sources, with a value of US $203.16 million, down 57% and 49% year-on-year. The most stringent formaldehyde standard act in the history of the United States, which came into force on July 1, may worsen the severe situation that China's furniture exports have been sharply reduced

it is understood that at present, there are 300 export wood products and furniture enterprises in Zhongshan area of Guangdong Province. The relevant person in charge of Zhongshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau believes that the export situation of these enterprises, which is not optimistic, is representative in the country. In fact, export-oriented furniture enterprises in many regions of China are facing a decline in export volume to varying degrees

the person in charge said that from July 1 this year, the formaldehyde limit standard stipulated in the formaldehyde standard act for composite wood products in the United States will be greatly increased. This act has made clear limits on the formaldehyde emission of corresponding products. For example, the formaldehyde emission limit value of the veneer core layer in hardwood plywood is not greater than 0.05ppm, the limit value of the composite plate core layer is not greater than 0.08ppm before July 1st, 2012, and then the limit value is not greater than 0.05ppm. Compared with the corresponding national standard GB18580 for wood-based panel raw materials in China, the formaldehyde emission limit stipulated in the act of the United States is significantly higher than the E1 level stipulated in the national standard

the person in charge believes that for the wood furniture enterprises in Zhongshan City, which takes the European and American markets as the main export destination, or in other regions due to the limited internal resources of CPLD, this means that they will face a more rigorous test, and the remaining problem is how to connect the prosthetic limbs. The Bureau suggested that relevant enterprises should thoroughly study and analyze the relevant contents of the new act of the United States, accurately grasp the removal methods of formaldehyde emission limit standards for various products stipulated in the new act, clean the oil delivery valve and the implementation period, scientifically adjust the types of export products and production plans, and pay close attention to the follow-up measures that may be taken by other countries at the same time. At the same time, enterprises should strengthen the management of raw and auxiliary materials, re evaluate suppliers, and purchase wood-based panel raw materials with national standard E0 or carb certification P Ⅱ, as well as environmental friendly adhesives, so as to ensure the quality and safety of raw and auxiliary materials

the person in charge also reminded that the production and suppliers of wood-based panel raw materials should speed up the research and development of new technologies, apply new low toxic or non-toxic environmental adhesives as soon as possible, improve product quality, and provide raw materials that meet foreign standards for export wood products and furniture manufacturers in a timely manner. Work with manufacturing enterprises to turn current difficulties into opportunities, stabilize, consolidate and seize the market
